Explicitly concerned with preparing students to study calculus, this text covers much of the same ground as Algebra and Trigonometry, but does so at an accelerated pace. Precalculus thoroughly explores topics in algebra, trigonometry, and analytic geometry, and all the examples, applications, and exercises have been selected for their relevance to calculus. The trigonometric functions are introduced first in terms of the unit circle approach and then using right triangles.

The text includes over 6,000 exercises that accommodate a variety of teaching and learning styles, plus a number of contemporary, real-life applications. The Sixth Edition offers new features such as enlarged printable graphs and proofs of theorems that demonstrate various proof techniques. Also new, "Model It" offers multi-part, real-life applications that require students to generate and analyze mathematical models. Each chapter concludes with a collection of thought-provoking exercises that further explore and expand the concepts of the chapter.
