Build a foundation for reading success Bridges to Literature uses high-interest, engaging literature selections, combined with on-level instruction in literature and vocabulary skills, to help make reading more accessible to less-proficient readers.

  • A leveled reading series
Each of the three volumes includes selections with readability levels that are designed to address the needs of students reading 1-3 years below level. The reading level of the selections gradually increases in difficulty, making it easier for students to transition into a traditional anthology.
  • A course in reading comprehension and vocabulary
Students learn a variety of key skills, concepts, and strategies. Reading selections are broken down into manageable "chunks" to increase comprehension. Guides appear throughout the text to help students apply good reading strategies. Vocabulary terms are previewed at the beginning of each selection and reinforced at point-of-use.
  • An introduction to literature
Each volume contains a mix of classic tales, contemporary stories, poetry, drama, and rich nonfiction. The selections are organized by genre, theme, or both and are supported by instruction in on-level literature concepts and skills.
