Interactive Simulations
Each book contains nearly 100 interactive simulations that transform challenging concepts into engaging hands-on activities. These can be used to demonstrate concepts or to have students explore on their own or in small groups. Although integrated with the text, interactive simulations are also accessible through a special index in the table of contents.
Progress Checks
Each interactive simulation, and many other lesson activities, are followed by Progress Check quizzes that give feedback to the student. Quiz results are immediately recorded in the Progress Check report for the teacher, a report that allows the teacher to quickly see students’ strengths and weaknesses. Additionally, teachers can see how the entire class is doing in a chapter or on a particular question.
Notes
Teachers can post notes to any page in book, thus allowing for customization of instruction. Personal files, such as Word documents, PowerPoint presentations, and spreadsheets, can be uploaded and attached to a teacher note and made available for students to view. Web links can also be associated with a note. Students can also add notes to any page of their own book.
Class and Teacher Forums
Teachers can establish class forums that allow students to respond to questions or discussion topics. Teachers can also participate in a discussion forum shared with other teachers using the online book.
E-mail
Teachers can set up e-mail lists to send e-mail to students or any group they wish, such as parents, administrators, or other teachers.
Course Management
Teachers can post announcements, assignments, activities, and Web links that students access from their book home page. In addition, the teacher can post a syllabus and other course information.
Bookmarks
Students and teachers can bookmark pages of the book for easy access later on from any computer.
Glossary
A glossary of all key words in the text is accessible from any page.
Index
Accessible from any page in the book, the index references all key words in the text and provides a link directly to the page that contains the word.
Search
The search tool searches all glossary and index entries throughout the book. It provides the glossary entry and links to all pages where the search term is found.
