Frequently Asked Question

Getting Started
Where can I find the teacher access code? The teacher access code should be inside the front cover of the Teachers' Edition of the Language Network text. It is the same key used for ClassZone access. If you cannot find the teacher access code or do not have the textbook, please contact your sales rep, Customer Service (1-800-323-5435), or Technical Support (1-800-727-3009).
Can I install Grammar Coach on the network? The "game" portion of the program is not networkable. However, Grammar Coach can be installed on as many workstations as you like without requiring the disk to remain in the drive by selecting the full install option.
How can I install this program over a network? Select "Network Installation" each time Grammar Coach and the Teachers Management System are installed on additional computers. Install the network version of both programs and a Central Database before your students use the software. Run the Central Database Installer on Macintosh or “central database.exe” on Windows and follow the directions. The Central Database needs to be installed once per network, and it must be installed at the root (top) level of the network drive. Remember to: 1. Check your network connection. 2. Make sure your login has sufficient server rights. 3. Make sure the database is installed to a drive on the server and that your computer has a drive mapped to that location.
We are installing on a Novell network and have Foolproof/At Ease running. Why are we geting errors? The program wasn’t designed to be used on a Novell network or with those security applications running.
What's the difference between purchasing a site license and networking a program? A site license is the legal right to use software on a number of different computers in a specific location or belonging to a specific group. A customer can purchase a site license for a software program and install the program on a number of systems, based on the terms of the license. Otherwise, the software can only be installed on one computer or used by one user. Below is a list of McDougal Littell products that have a site license available:

Networkability, on the other hand, is a technical issue, not a legal issue. If a product is networkable, it means that, technically, you can run the program off a network. A networkable program allows the user to install the program on a central computer, one time, and that program is then available to other computer terminals in the network. You can have a site license for a program that is not networkable, though -- this means you could install the program on as many computers as you want. Most McDougal Littell technology products are not designed to be networkable, but schools can always try to network them on their own (we have a 30-day trial period to accommodate this type of need). Below is s list of McDougal Littell products that were designed and tested to be networkable:

Troubleshooting
Does the Grammar Coach include an import feature? No, this program does not have an import feature.
Why can I run the program when logged in as the Administrator, but when I log in as a student, the program says the database can't be found? To resolve this problem, give the students full access to the database. If you are not sure how to do this, contact your school's IT staff.
Why doesn’t the program recognize the database when I start? Map the drive letter directly to the “GC HS” folder. If you do not know how to do this, contact Technical Support or your school's IT department.
